With no street lights in the viicinity, the sea on two sides and no large towns within 10 miles in any direction the night skies on the Hartland Peninsula are truly spectacular.  In the winter the milky Way is clearly visible and the Andromeda Galaxy is a naked eye object.  A recent TV programme on astronomy had the Hartland Peninsula on it's list of best star viewing areas in the UK.  If you are interested in astronomy and want to bring your telescope you are welcome, alternatively just sit outside and enjoy the view on a clear night.

Some campers have taken spectacular images of the Milky Way Galaxy from the campsite.  Just remember that there are more stars in the Universe than there are grains of sand on all of beaches on Earth (and that includes Hartland Quay beach!)
